IJN Ohka unpowered trainer K1 – Fine Molds

This is a nice little kit that can be finished in a few days.

I had wanted this kit for a while, but for whatever reason, Finemolds kits are quite expensive in the US. Where as other Japanese kits are maybe 2x the cost compared to Japan, Finemolds are consistently 2.5-3x. Paying $40 USD seems a bit overkill for this small kit.

Well, turns out I was visiting Japan this year, so yeah, time to pick us some models and this was one of them. About $20 at Yodobashi in Osaka. If you never heard of this store and will be going to Osaka, you HAVE to stop in. It’s not a model store, it has everything, but it’s their model section will be bigger than any model store you have been in the US.

In any case, the kit is simple, here’s my only shot of the interior. Simple – as was the real plane. I added the seat belt from Eduard set.

The low part count and easy fit made the build a nice experience. The canopy was nice and clear. I was able to test out my new Silhouette cutter to create masks for it. After some trial and error, worked out great. The bright orange scheme allows this little kit not to get lost in my display case.
