Ilyushin Il-2 Stormovik "single seat" - Accurate Miniatures

This is the orginal IL-2 kit from Accurrate Miniatures released in the 1997 (20 years already, how time files).  While we now have the ultimate 1/48 IL-2 with Tamiya's release, this kit can still hold its own, as AC kits were wonderfully detailed if somewhat fiddly'' in construction due to engineering.

Even though it's an older kit and Accurate Miniature is no longer around, you can still find these fairly easily and also they get new boxing from Eduard sometimes. I'll start off with some pictures of the sprues with their fine details.  The included decal sheet is for a generic aircraft with a set of numbers to create any plane in a squadron.  Many IL-2's were fairly generically marked.

This build is bascially out of the box, all the cockpit needed was some belts - in this case Eduard ones - instead of the included decal belts.

The instructment panel is provided in clear plastic along with decals in reverse, as they are to be applied from the rear.  Once the paint goes one, it gives a great representation with minimal fuss.

There's really no other drama with the build - everything fits well.  For the finish, I decided on a white wash one that has been heavily worn off.  So I painted the standard camo, and used very dilute white paint airbushed for the white wash.  For the decals, I couldn't help add 'For the Motherland' slogan on the side with decals swiiped from another Accurate Miniature kit.  My usual oil pin wash for the details, and some Tamiya smoke for the exhaust finsihed the model.
