Basement Projects
Playroom
The plain white room was changed to a playroom for the children. Baby blue paint on the bottom walls, mickey mouse borders, and a hand painted Pokemon mural. The upper part of the walls have since been updated with a bright yellow not shown in these photos.
Refinish Staircase
BEFORE
MidPoint AFTER
The Stairs were orginally stained plywood and looked okay with an unfinished basement. But looke out of place when the basement was finished. The steps would have been very difficult to replace, so I used the same pergo brand laminate flooring product that was used to finish the basement floor and simply covered the plywood steps. Thin wood panels cust to size and painted white was used to cover the risers. This was must faster and simpler than trying to sand, prime, and paint over the plywood. Especially with the large nunmber of knots that needed to be sealed. The next step is to replace the bannisters. The upper stair well have been repainted and chair molding installed.
